A CUSTOM FIT
THANK YOU
FOR PURCHASING A BAR M HALTER!

Your halter is handmade in New Zealand using the highest quality soft marine rope to withstand the elements. The attached lead rope is a great training tool, with its rope to rope connection providing a great feel and therefore clear communication with your horse.

HOW TO FIT YOUR BAR M HOOK HALTER
To properly fit and adjust your halter for the first use, begin by removing the loop from the hook (the other end of the rope, which passes through the eye, remains fixed in place). Place the halter on your horse and fasten it by threading the loop through the eye and securing it onto the hook. This should rest on the near side of the horse’s head.
On the offside, you'll find a bowline knot that allows you to adjust the length of the rope that goes over the poll. Adjust the knot so that the halter fits snugly without being too loose. Once set, the knot should remain securely tied and will not require further adjustment. From this point forward, you can easily put the halter on and take it off by using the hook attachment.

HOW TO FIT YOUR
BAR M HORSEMANSHIP HALTER
This unique feature of the horsemanship halter eliminates the need to tie a knot, offering a more convenient experience. To use, place the halter on your horse and take the piece that goes over the poll. Slip it through the loop until it reaches either the first or second knot, depending on the size and fit needed. Push the slider up next to the knot to lock it in place securely.
This halter is designed to fit multiple horses by utilising the two different knot positions. To adjust the halter, simply push the knot together to loosen it. Once loosened, slide the knot along the rope in the desired direction, then pull it tight again.
Please note that the knots may settle over time, so it's recommended to make any necessary adjustments when the halter is new. Do not untie any knots!
NOSEBAND TOO BIG OR SMALL?
No problem—this can be easily adjusted while the halter is still new, before the knots have fully settled. The Fiador knot, located below the chin where the lead rope attaches, is key to making this adjustment.
To loosen the knot, simply push it together. Once loosened, slide the knot along the rope in the desired direction. You may need to follow and work through the individual strands, but remember to keep the two pieces entering and the two pieces exiting the knot together. The knot can be moved in either direction to loosen or tighten the noseband. Once you've adjusted it, pull the knot tight again to secure the fit.

WASHING YOUR HALTER
We do not recommend placing your halter in the washing machine, as this may cause the knots to come undone. If any knots are untied, the halter will need to be completely retied, which will incur a cost.
Instead, we suggest soaking the halter in a plant-based, natural detergent such as a 'nappy-san' cleaner or gentle dish soap. After soaking, scrub the halter with a toothbrush to remove any dirt. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to ensure no soap residue remains, then hang the halter to dry.
